11 days and counting!

Can you believe it? Our little embryos have been (HOPEFULLY!) nestling into my uterus for the past 5 days. I have finished one of my IVF medications and will begin another one tomorrow. I will now have to place 2 estrogen patches on my back and replace them every 3 days. I will continue taking Progesterone shots in my hip and taking a couple oral medications! Yep, still a little pharmacy in our house!

I did return to work today (I'm at lunch eating and typing) to hopefully keep my mind off of everything. It's been a very stressful few weeks and now we just....wait. We have 11 days until we can take our pregnancy blood test! We can't wait, but we're nervous at the same time. A lot of "what ifs" run through your mind. We hope this is our Christmas miracle, but if it's not.. it's going to be VERY difficult trying to keep it together and attend all the Christmas get-togethers. Hopefully, we'll have good news to share instead!

Just so everyone knows what is going on inside my uterus now (because now, we have NO control over what our embryos are doing! We've done all the hard work, now it's up to 3 little embryos inside me and the Good Lord to finish this one!), here's a little medical/pregnancy lesson!

Implantation happens 6-10 days after Fertilization (Our fertilization was on the evening of Wednesday, November 29th - about 7-8 days ago). It’s one step in establishing pregnancy. It’s the first week of Human life. Embryo development and differentiation of endometrial happen during that the first week. Implantation bleeding doesn’t necessary happen, but may be one of the first signs. And it is cause by implantation embryo in endometrial wall. Once implantation has taken place, my body will begin to produce HCG, the human growth hormone. Within a few days of implantation, the HCG will show up in my bloodwork and in my urine.
