IVF #2 is about to begin!
Well, sorry to keep everyone in much anticipation of what is to come next. It's been a crazy week or two and I have been very scared and dealing with some anxiety over this next cycle. I am not scared of the procedures, as I know what to expect, but I am scared to death of it not working as this is it. We just can't do anymore cycles for a very long time and we have discovered that many adoption agencies will automatically exclude us because of our age and because of my Crohn's. We really aren't ready to adoption, but we aren't about to except being childless. We will come to that when we reach that path, but hopefully we are able to avoid it all together.
So, anyway, we had our baseline u/s yesterday where they checked out my ovaries and my lining. They all looked good and for the first time in my entire life, my left ovary look very CLEAR! Usually because I have PCOS, my ovaries are clustered looking, but my left looked fabulous. They said I could expect a small period, but I would begin stim medication on Saturday. So, here is our schedule:
January 13th through January 15th - 150iu Follistim (morning shot) and 150iu Menopur(evening shot) and Dexamethasone - Charley takes Doxycycline (antibiotic)
January 16th - I will do a 150iu Follistim shot and have an E2 blood test to check my estrogen levels
January 18th - ultrasound to check my follicle size and another E2 blood test
January 19th - my IVIg infusion - at home
January 20th - ultrasound to check my follicle size and another E2 blood test
January 22nd - ultrasound to check my follicle size and another E2 blood test
January 24th or 25th - Egg Retrieval
January 27th, 28th, 29th, or 30th - Egg Transfer - Depending on Egg Retrieval, this date will vary and also, they will shoot for a 5 day transfer, but will do a 3 day transfer (like last time) if necessary.
I will also do a new shot in replacement of Lupron called Ganirelix which is essentially going to prevent ovulation while I am stimming my ovaries hard.
In addition, our RE's goal is to get eggs to freeze this time, so we're hoping and praying we have plenty of healthy, mature embryos that we will get some to implant as well as have some left to freeze and use later.
This is all very stressful, but we wade through it again.
On a side note, I just wanted to send my Aunt Donna some prayers. Please pray for her as she is having surgery tomorrow morning as she was just diagnosed with breast cancer. She's a strong woman and will get through this, but she still needs lots of prayers! Good Luck Aunt Donna! We're thinking of you!!!
