We went and picked up a couple of our babies! :)

And..for the much anticipated news!

Well, out of 10 embryos, we had NINE (9) viable eggs! HOLY COW!  Dr. Gentry originally recommended 2, but after we all talked, (Charley, myself, Dr. Gentry, nurse, and my mom) we decided to take the risk of 3 embryos.  Dr. Gentry didn't object, he was fine with it.  With a failed IVF, possible known implantation problems, Crohn's, etc.. we decided to risk it.  The only thing that concerns me with multiples is their health and mine.  I know it could be rough and we discussed this with the Dr. Gentry.  He looked at me and asked one question that summed it all up. "Would you be able to handle putting 2 back and getting another negative, or would you be able to handle putting 3 back and get triplets?"  Immediately, almost in unison, Charley, myself, and my mom went.. "3"  So, there we went.  I know it's risky with my age, but given my history, Dr. Gentry can't even begin to say what would happen to me (as far as having multiples) because I have been so tricky to begin with.  I think he knows I will take good care of my body and do whatever it takes to take care of that situation if it happens.  I told him I firmly believe I have the greatest medical care and family and friend support that if it happens, then it happens.  I commented that after he puts those eggs in...it's not up to us..and he just nodded his head in agreement.  I went in knowing it would be 2 to put back, but after talking and talking with everyone..we went for 3.  The nurse who has suffered IF said she would probably do 3 in my situation but said Charley and my mom need to discuss that one.  Anyway, we did 3.   I'm tall, so the nurse said I would probably carry triplets fine, not to term, but long enough to make happy, healthy babies.

I did have a VERY difficult transfer.  I don't do well with the speculum (aka spreader - yes, that testosterone built device to see inside a woman's yoohoo!) of my rectum issues, but I handled it okay.  My uterus was once again shoved all over the place.  My ovaries are SOO swollen.  They had to use 3 different catheters to get it just right.  The nurse had to push a little harder on my belly with the ultrasound to get it in too.  He then had to clamp my cervix open with something and get a stiffer catheter and then feed it through.  Then with all that trouble...they had to actually have the Embryologist come into the room (SOOOO CAREFULLY) carrying 3 of our babies in a syringe) and put them in that way.  I had taken 2 pain pills, a Zofran, and a Xanax, but the transfer hurt me quite a bit.  They didn't mean to, but with moderate OHSS and a swollen rectum, it was VERY uncomfortable.  I can tolerate pain, so it was doable.  After it, I had sharp rectal pains for about 2 hours.  I got home and took 2 more pain pills and found a comfy spot in the recliner and went to sleep.  I feel MUCH better now, but the queasiness keeps coming back.  I have to say if I'm queasy in about 2 weeks..I'm going to be happy, but it's been rough the last several days!

That's all for now!

And, if you are wondering why it's risky for 3 embryos to be implanted in someone my age on a 5 day transfer. It is because at 5 days they can pick the leaders and the strongest eggs.  They have a better chance of implanting over a 3 day transfer.  Still lots of studies between doing 3 day transfers and 5 day transfers, but 5 days is usually preferred.  Granted, with all our issues, really, no one knows the effects of me.  Also, we SHOULD have eggs to freeze tomorrow!  I'll post more about that when I know!

Pregnancy test is February 12th!   Wish us luck!

    Hey Kaycie,

I have been on pins/needles looking for the results of your doctor visit yesterday. I pray all is well. I didn't see an entry ...so I'll just keep praying. Just know we think about you all the time. Megan and Ryan looked at your ultrasound with me. I cannot wait to see how many babies you are having. God Bless! Aunt Judy
