SPOILED!

No, Addy is not spoiled! MOMMY GOT SPOILED!   (Okay, so yes, maybe that means Addy got spoiled too!)

Charley went back to work and Monday is his late shift, so my mom went up with me at 7:30pm to spend some time with Addy.  Oh, it was soo much fun!   I guess they have marked it on her chart when the parents do something, so since I've been giving her her bath, they make note so the other nurses know.

Well, Addy got a GOOD bath!   It's so hard to bath inside those isolettes, but I'm getting better at it (Mind you, I've got some of the new mommy experience going on..so I'm a bit slow with the whole bathing process.  And, I can't stop admiring every tiny feature on her!).  I did a lot better Monday night than Sunday night.  I even washed her hair and she smelled so good afterwards.  I missed her feet because she has an IV in her right leg and a oxygen reader on the other.  So, tonight I gotta get those feet good!  And, I didn't get her back much, again, gotta work on that one tonight.

So, since it took so long for me to bathe her, I figured much of my "holding" time was probably not going to happen, but no big deal because I still got to do stuff with her.  They came over and weighed her and she's exactly 3lbs now!   (And, she has no IV board anymore, so this is a TRUE weight!).  SO YEAH FOR ADDY!  Her nurse was Rachel, one of Reagan's nurses the night they were born.  So, I think she has a soft spot for Addy, plus she has 2 boys at home, so girls are a lot of fun for her.  She asked if I wanted to hold her and I said yes, of course!  She said well let me get some clothes.  And, I looked at her dumbfounded because usually we just get a hat and a warm blanket.  (See, mommy got spoiled!)  Nope, she got her a little onsie-dress and a sweater.  She would of gotten her a sleeper, but she had too much on her feet and the sleeper wouldn't work.  She looked so cute I couldn't stand it!  The girl will look great in everything because she's got Daddy's skin complexion and dark hair.

Well, so I started holding her and Rachel asked if we were going to be there a while and I was confused why.  I was almost certain she was going to have to snuggle her into her isolette so she could get fed at 9pm.  Well, much to my surprise, she asked if I wanted to hold her while she ate.  Which meant me sitting there holding her for 45 minutes!!!   OF COURSE I SAID... "Yep, I think I can handle that!"  And, so she started her tube feed with me holding her in her little dress and sweater (size Preemie - up to 5lbs - yes, it swallowed her).  Rachel got her a warm blanket because I cupped my hands over her legs as they felt a little chilly.  Addy didn't seem to mind though.  A little bit later, her head felt a little cool, so we grabbed her pink hat and then she went fast to sleep.  She had 16ccs of formula at 9pm.  About 3/4 the way through, I had a Crohn's attack and quickly handed her to my mom, but she was already asleep then and grandma got a little love time in herself!  You guessed it, she didn't complain one bit.  After I got back from the bathroom, I got to hold her about 5 minutes more and she just slept.  She was so peaceful.

It was then time to go back to her isolette.  They left her outfit on, but took her sweater off and hat off.  It's quite warm in those isolettes.  She went right back to sleep.  She was so cute though!! (Yes, it's another picture overload post! Sorry to those who have dialup.)

YEAH ADDY!  YOU DID IT BABY GIRL!!!

Rachel, her nurse, getting her dressed! (This is the first outfit she's ever worn!)

What's the big deal here???   Rachel, my mom, all the NICU nurses, and I were just grinning from ear to ear!  How cute is she???   Okay, ya, I'm a little biased already, but she has SUCH a pretty skin complexion that I almost don't think she's mine!   She looks so much like daddy though!  Reagan looked a lot like me.  We did really end up with 2 gorgeous little girls.

Here's my favorite nurse Rachel, showing me off to mommy, grandma, and all the NICU nurses!
Like I need to be any cuter!

Ahhh...at last!! There's my mommy!  Now, will you all leave me alone... we need some quality time here.

Hi Grandma! Can we go shopping yet?  I need a few clothes that actually fit!

Food, cute clothes, and mommy... what more does a little girl need?

As for today, Tuesday, we went to my colon surgeon's appointment (my mom took me because Charley was at work).  Seems Dr. Waller thinks I may have had some antibiotics on board for the c-section therefore causing my current flare, or in sense, it's not a flare it's a touch of colitis.  Some may not know, but antibiotics can cause colitis in anyone.  They are even more dangerous to me with my sensitive bowel.  With all the commotion, we had no idea if I received antibiotics or not.  So, the NICU nurses pulled my hospital file and they cannot find record of antibiotics on board.  So, we aren't sure the current cause of my bowel issues.  But, Dr. Waller gave me some probiotics to take for the next several days and instructed me to take imodium for the constant diarhea I'm having and to stay hydrated and he gave me a few tips for the care of my rearend area which is beginning to raw out (sort of like baby diaper rash).  My mom and I ate lunch today and I had a turkey sandwich and soup, and just so you know how bad my belly is doing... I was in the bathroom just 45 minutes after I finished eating.  So, hopefully, the added "tricks" will get me over this hump.  Dr. Waller told me to call back if I get worse or I don't get better after 5-7 days.  He was a bit surprised the pain medicine wasn't constipating me (I started back on it again because of the constant cramping pain when I eat).  But, no worries, I know how to catch this stuff now.. and I am keeping an eye on it.  I need to be healthy for Addy.

Charley is keeping up with me too.  I know he's a bit worried with all of my bowel issues, but in respect, we're worried about each other a lot right now.  I think he likes and hates going back to work all in one.  He can't do much for me or his daughter right now.  He sort of feels helpless, but I'm hoping work is a nice distraction for him.

As for Addy today, she looked great.  We spent a little time with her after my doctor's appointment.  She was up to 20ccs on her 9am feed this morning, so she's doing great!  Her oxygen levels are teetering back and forth, but that's normal for being a preemie.  She's got some big obstacles to overcome, but she's doing great!  Hopefully, she'll lose her IV either tonight or tomorrow.  They seemed a little hesitant..they may need to slow the pace with her formula a bit.  That may be the cause of her breathing a little too fast and her oxygen levels teetering back and forth.

Also, we now have Reagan's autopsy reports.  I'll update on that later.  It's quite intensive and brought out some interesting info.  Dr. Vincent was quite surprised with my knowledge on the matter.  I need to discuss all this with Charley first, so I'll post this later today or tomorrow.  Let's just say...she was chromosomally perfect, something just happened in her formation of her digestive system.  It was simply "bad luck."
