Addy's Synagis (RSV) shot!

I'm writing this post out of pure FRUSTRATION!!

We arrived at Addy's doctor's office today at around 3:45pm to get her 2nd Synagis (RSV) shot.  RSV stands for Respiratory syncytial virus.  It can just cause mild cold-like symptoms in healthy, term infants, children, and adults, but to a Preemie, it's deadly.  Synagis doesn't prevent Addy from getting RSV, but it helps lessen the severity of RSV should she get it.  It's a very expensive shot, but worth every dime if it protects her from a deadly case of RSV.  She got her 1st shot in September just before she got discharged and she was due for her 2nd shot.

So, we get there, and after her apnea monitor decides to die in the middle of the waiting room and I frantically search for an outlet to at least charge it enough for me to get home, the nurse comes out and calls her name.  She asked what I'm there for and I reply "Synagis."  She looks a little puzzled and asked "Do you have the drug?"  I reply, "Nope, you should have it, it was sent out yesterday and to arrive here at 10:30am or earlier."  She says "Wait a minute, I don't think we have it."  She goes back for a bit and comes back out, "We don't have it."  Then she sees the frustrating written across my face as I spit out "Insurance SAID it'd be here today." and goes "I know it's frustrating."  So, I called insurance....

Well, you are going to just LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEE this one!!!  I spoke to them on Tuesday when they called to verify and get approval for delivery of the medicine.   I approved it and told them I needed it by Thursday afternoon for her shot.  They said, "No problem, we'll send it out tomorrow (Wed) and you should have it no later than Thursday at 10:30am."  I reply, "Sounds great." and hang up the phone.  But, I forgot that I wanted to know just how much this drug cost, so I called back.  And, they sent me to pharmacy, but because she hadn't been put in the system yet (was only about 10-15 minutes since I talked to the business lady), they sent me to another authorization person (there are 3 levels - the first level they get delivery approval, then they get another approval, then it goes to pharmacy and then ship).  Well, we got that taken care of ahead of time and I was once again assured the meds would be there by 10:30am on Thursday.  No sweat....

So, I called the insurance company on Thursday afternoon.  I ended up with the same agent as before and she was FLOORED that the drug wasn't there.  She investigated into my chart and she was reading stuff to me sort of skimming it and goes.. "Drug not covered." and, I go "Wait, what do you mean "drug no covered.""  She goes back and rereads and goes "just a second."  Well, she comes back on the phone and tells me that after she had left for the day on Wednesday, someone or somehow they DELETED Addy OFF of our insurance plan and left Reagan on it!! WHAT!??!?!?!?!  HOW?!?!?  We had to add both girls in the beginning, we received insurance cards with both the girls names on them.  Then once her bills processed, we deleted Reagan and were sent new cards with Addison's name.  Now, HOW THE HELL DID THEY DO THIS!??!  No idea, but I was fuming in tears in the office.  I told the nurses what they did and they just kind of gawked at me.. not knowing what to say.

So, anyway, they are emergency shipping the drug overnight and it should be here tomorrow, Friday.  So, as soon as we get the call, we're headed BACK to the doctor to get the shot...
