A visit to the NICU! (GOOD visit!)

We went to see a friend in the hospital today (she's in Labor & Delivery - 26w4d with triplets - Pray that the medicine they now have her on last her for a good 6 weeks!  I know she can do it, but really hope that she can!) and we stopped by the NICU to just say "hi."  How could we not!?!?

One of her RT (respiratory therapists) was there.  I don't know if she was the one that helped ventilate the girls or not, but I DON'T remember there being a male RT in the OR that night and she's on the only female RT.  Beyond that, she works nights a LOT...so I'm "guessing" it was her.  Either way, she was back in Level 3 with all the vented babies and we talked a lot.  She was great!
Some of our fave nurses were there:
Lynne - She let me hold Addy for the VERY first time.  And, after all we had been through, she let me hold her for 2 hours less than 24 hours after she was born.  I'll never forget that.  NEVER!
Pat M. - Oh, I do love Pat!  (I loved all the Pats actually!)  But, she was the reason Addy got pushed into Parent Care with us SO soon!  Most people spend 1 night and a 1/2 a day in Parent Care.  Since I was there all the time anyway, they let us have her in Parent Care for 5 straight days!  It was awesome!  Plus, she really helped with tips via feeding and oxygen levels and she CONSTANTLY reassured me in Level I that Addy was doing great and that it was all "normal."
Christy - Our fave secretary!  She's my age, so we just got along good and one of the very first times taht I missed feeding Addy when I said I'd be there, she was there and SHE fed Addy!  Made me feel good cause I KNEW someone that loved my little girl was taking GOOD care of her!
And, a few other awesome nurses (can't remember them all - sORRY!) snuck out to see Addy too.  They said she looked good and said her color looked good too, but we are STILL question her paleness.  Hopefully the bloodwork on Monday shows "something" to calm us a bit on what's been going on.  I need a few nights of sleep I think!

Anyway, the RT informed us that RSV has hit the Pediatrics floor at the hospital she was at!!  Addy receives Synagis to help LESSEN the case of RSV she could get.  The RT said that was great and it will help.  But, pretty much means no more trips to the hospital, except for when I get Remicade or if she needs something there.  We were planning on putting together a gift basket for our NICU girls and the doctors, but since RSV is present at the hospital, we're goign to hold off on going back until my next Remicade appointment.  This gives us a good month to put an awesome basket of goodies together for them!  It's scary!

They caught on quickly that we "get out and about."  And, kind of smiled and shook their heads at the same time.  But, we told them how we wash and sterilize EVERYTHING and that she's only been held by maybe 10 total people (besides the NICU) and we don't let people touch or breathe on her...and..as hard as it is to do that....we've been doing it.  They told me I was a "good momma."  Made me feel good!  Addy's NP from Dr. K's office said the SAME thing to me at her Thursday appointment.  They are all impressed that I know as much as I do about medical information considering I have NO degree or education in the field beyond my own research and questions.  So, they said I was doing all the right things, yet I know as we close into winter..we will stay home MORE and MORE!  A little frightening, but we're making do!

Oh, and today, I finally bought NON-maternity clothes!  I have been TRYING to etch out of them, but it's been tough!  Anyway, I now own some clothes that FIT!  It's amazing what a c-section does for your figure!  Oh well, they are SO worth it!
