Possible Early Stages of Pneumonia

No that is NOT a typo.

Yes, that is Addy's most recent diagnosis.

Holy cow is my first thought...

So, when I posted in many other posts before saying that a simple cold COULD turn into pneumonia overnight, I wasn't kidding, and now we are living with that reality.  Addy was on ammoxicillin, but it was doing nothing.  Monday night, she woke both Charley & I up with this all of sudden HORRIBLE cough.  So, I thought I'd better call the doc.  I called first thing Tuesday, and after 2 repeat calls, they called back and they didn't realize she hadn't had a cough yet.  So, they told me to give a few days.  When I said, 'Well, I'm a bit concerned because she just developed this cough."  They immediately stopped and said, "Okay, well we can do a chest x-ray."  So, I accepted and off we went.  My mom went with me and she did great.  She saw and coo'd at us.  Got a little fussy, but nothing major.  We had to lay her on her side, but the good thing is she LIKES her side and she actually rolls to her side and SLEEPS on her side now.  It's too cute actually.

Well, the tech said. "Looks good."  And, the next day I hadn't heard anything by 1pm, so I called to check on one of her meds.  I was hoping to get the *cough* brand of it to help with the cough now.  I just told the nurse that I figured no new was good news and she said "Wait, I don't think I've seen that yet. "  She then found it and said "Ok, I found it, let me run this by Dr. K and I'll call you back."  That was bad sign #1.  Bad sign #2 was when they called back less 5 minutes later.  Then, they told me she has possible early stages of pneumonia.

So, I requested a Nebulizer to help break up the mucous in her chest.  She's on that every 4-6 hours and on a new prescription antibiotic to get rid of anything infection wise as she's had green snot in the last week.  We are now pretty much stuck in our home.  It's been hard working around schedules, but we're making do.

Right now, we aren't sure if we can take her anywhere for Christmas, so for the time being, we're just taking each day as it comes and we'll make a decision then.  We are pretty bummed, but her health is far more important.  I guess the worst case scenario is we can just put her in her Christmas dress and celebrate Christmas under our tree...it just doesn't feel the same.  Again, we're just going to see how it goes.   The Nebulizer is helping..but the cough is still there!

Please say some prayers for her speedy recovery!
